Clarice Belle Bryant (known as Belle) was born in Bowral but by the time she married Alfred Ernest Cornelius Bray in October 1919 at the age of 22 years she was living in Joy Street  Penshurst.

Initially they lived with Alf's family in Park Road, Hurstville but within a couple of years Alf become elligible of a War Service Home Loan and they moved to 95 Restwell Street in Bankstown wher they lived until retirement. Baby Norma Beryl had already arrived in 1920 and son, Douglas Arthur, was born in 1924.

Belle was a real homebody looking after her family, and insisted on Norma and Doug coming home for lunch from school, which was just a short way up Restwell Street, to ensure they had a good meal.

She also enjoyed playing tennis in the mid-week competition. She was a left-hander and she invariably played with her best friend Maud Wood, of Woodsie, was right-handed.

She was a member of the Lady Mayoress' Committe of the Bankstown Municipal Council and when Alf got involved and became President of the new Bankstown RSL Club, Belle joined the Ladies Auxiliary.

Belle and Alf retired to the Central Coast of NSW at Toukley where they liovefd until Alf passed away in 1968. In her later years Belle lived in a nursing home at Avoca Beach where she finally succumbed to dementia in 1984.
